Did you know?
All Mason students are required to take three writing courses before they can graduate. These courses are part of the general education curriculum. You might need to take additional courses depending on your major.
- English 101 introduces students to writing in the university and helps students develop fundamental writing processes.
- English 302 introduces students to writing in the disciplines or majors and extends the work begun in English 101.
- Writing Intensive (WI) courses prepare students to write within disciplinary and professional contexts. Faculty also use writing as a tool for learning disciplinary concepts.
Can I take other writing courses?
Mason offers a variety of writing courses that can benefit students. These courses, however, cannot stand as substitutes for the three courses described above.
